PANEL Q&A: LITERARY AGENTS - OLIVIA MAIDMENT, JUSTIN NASH AND CATHERINE PELLEGRINO

We’ve brought together three agents from different agencies to answer your questions on agenting. What makes a standout submission package? How will an agent support you, the author? And what are they looking for when selling a book and its rights around the world? Olivia Maidment from the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency, Justin Nash from Kate Nash Literary Agency and Catherine Pellegrino from Marjacq will answer all you need to know!

Catherine has worked in publishing for 30 years: in translation rights at Victor Gollancz, Penguin and Bloomsbury; as a literary scout; and in her current role as an agent specialising in Children’s and YA literature, first at Rogers, Coleridge and White and currently at the dynamic and fast expanding agency Marjacq where she represents an eclectic and talented stable of children’s and some adult authors including – Finbar Hawkins, Roopa Farooki, Steve Feasey, Bryony Pearce, T.C Shelley, Harriet Whitehorn.

Agent one-to-one appointments are available with Catherine. Once you have booked your festival ticket you will receive link and details about Catherine’s available timeslots. Please note #Agent121 sessions are charged extra at £60 each.

Her tastes are eclectic but tend towards literary, but a cracking story with great characters whether sci-fi, fantasy, literary or historical will always win the day.

Wish list – Smart and funny YA Romance (think a younger Meg Rosoff’s Jonathan Unleashed); high concept middle grade like the brilliant The Call by Peadar O’Guillen
