PANEL Q&A: LITERARY AGENTS - OLIVIA MAIDMENT, JUSTIN NASH AND CATHERINE PELLEGRINO

We’ve brought together three agents from different agencies to answer your questions on agenting. What makes a standout submission package? How will an agent support you, the author? And what are they looking for when selling a book and its rights around the world? Olivia Maidment from the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency, Justin Nash from Kate Nash Literary Agency and Catherine Pellegrino from Marjacq will answer all you need to know!

Justin has a BA in History and an MA in Medieval Studies from Birkbeck, University of London. Justin worked for a number of years as a teacher of History and Politics before becoming an agent. He enjoyed teaching any period from the Middle Ages to the present day. Justin has edited and helped research new editions of two books on the Far East Prisoner of War experience in World War Two. Another book which he helped edit is a memoir about the life of a British family trapped in occupied France during the same period, written from the viewpoint of the youngest member of the family.

Agent one-to-one appointments are available with Justin. Once you have booked your festival ticket you will receive link and details about Justin’s available timeslots. Please note #Agent121 sessions are charged extra at £60 each.

Justin continues to look for gripping character led fiction in the crime, adventure, thriller, book club and SF areas. Justin loves a vivid sense of place and time in fiction. He is open to all locations and periods. He is also interested in historical fiction that includes fantasy, mythology or gothic elements.

In non-fiction, he is looking for books which open up the conversation and take him on a journey.
